Hi I'm Fiona Hunter and I've been working as a nutritionist and food writer for over 20 years now. I started my career as a dietician in the National Health Service before moving to Good Housekeeping magazine.
For the last 11 years I've been working freelance, writing for various magazines and newspapers as well as doing consultancy work for food companies, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels.
Although I always try to practice what I preach, I'm not one of those nutritionists who only eats mung beans and macrobiotic rice. I split my time between France and London, and as anyone who has ever spent any time in France will know, the French take their food very seriously. In our little village in the foothills of the Pyrenees everything (yes everything – even the police station in the next village) closes down for two hours at lunch time. Now, while I'm not advocating that you stop for two hours in the middle of the day for a three course meal, I do know, both from personal experience and from research into the area of nutrition on performance, that taking some time to have a proper break and eat something healthy at lunch time is important.
What you eat at lunch time can afferct your long term health as well as your mood and productivity later in the day. So my mission is to persuade you to make time for lunch.
